U.S. import market · USGS data

We read the market our buyers source in

Monthly U.S. ferrosilicon import volume, tracked from official U.S. Geological Survey trade data. This is the whole U.S. market — every importer, not Bridgeway’s own shipments — because a supplier who watches the numbers can flag tightening supply and quote honestly.

Applications

Applications of Ferrosilicon

Steel Deoxidation

FeSi is widely used as a deoxidizer in steelmaking, removing dissolved oxygen from molten steel and supporting consistent cleanliness.

Alloying Additive

FeSi supplies silicon to steel and alloy formulations where strength, hardness, elasticity, or magnetic properties are required.

Foundry and Cast Iron

In cast-iron production, FeSi is used to support graphite formation and casting performance, depending on grade and process requirements.

Ferroalloy and Magnesium Production

High-silicon FeSi serves as a reducing agent in certain ferroalloy and magnesium production processes, subject to buyer specifications.

Documentation & Inspection

Batch-level records and shipment documents

Buyer-requested third-party pre-shipment inspection may be arranged for proposed lots, with inspection costs quoted separately. Historical inspection records may be shared in redacted form for evaluation. Shipment-specific quality documentation is provided through the applicable MTC and, where requested, a third-party PSI report.

Typical shipment documents

  • Commercial Invoice
  • Packing List
  • Bill of Lading / Sea Waybill
  • Mill Test Certificate
  • Certificate of Origin
  • Safety Data Sheet

Available on request

  • Redacted reference inspection records
  • Buyer-requested third-party pre-shipment inspection
  • Marine cargo insurance certificate when the agreed Incoterm requires seller-procured insurance
  • Vendor onboarding and company documentation
